Petaling Jaya, 16 September 2011

Lafarge Malayan Cement launched the Road Safety Campaign at PLUS Expressways’ Toll Plazas with the objective to create road safety awareness and remind motorists to drive safely.  This is in line with the various measures taken by the Ministry of Transport to prevent and reduce road accidents in Malaysia.

The campaign was held simultaneously at the Damansara and Subang Toll Plazas where goodie bags with specially designed safety items such as “No to Road Accident” sunshade and car stickers, Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya road safety brochures and refreshments were distributed to motorists by Lafarge Malayan Cement’s employees.

At the event, Bi Yong Chungunco, President & Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Malayan Cement said, “At Lafarge Malayan Cement, Safety is more than a priority – it is our core value.  We have to care and be responsible for our own safety and the safety of others.

We want to make “Safety a Way of Life” for everyone.  As a concerned corporation and road users ourselves, we were alarmed with the rising trend of road accidents especially during the festive period.  Therefore, the Road Safety Campaign is part of our corporate social responsibility programmes to enable us to reach out to the community.

More than forty of our employees volunteered their time to be here today to distribute the goodie bags to motorists.”
