Appointment of New President and Chief Executive Officer

Lafarge Malayan Cement Berhad appointed Bi Yong Chungunco, 45, as its President & Chief Executive Officer effective 5 May 2008. She was Deputy General Counsel at Lafarge SA in Paris before this.


Bi Yong has worked with Lafarge since 2002, rising from senior vice president, legal, corporate governance and external relations in Lafarge Cement Services Philippines Inc to become Deputy General Counsel heading the regional counsels department at Lafarge SA in Paris in 2006.


Prior to Lafarge, Bi Yong was treasurer at Jardine Davies Inc that is listed in the Philippines Stock Exchange, and later became a Director at the Philippine Bank of Communication. Before joining multinational companies, she was with leading law firms in the Philippines and was involved in securities law, corporate finance and tax practice.


Bi Yong began her career as Executive Secretary to the Vice Chairman of Allied Bank after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from Manila's Ateneo College of Law in 1988.
